I'm a writer and editor with a passion for covering art and culture, profiling interesting people and mentoring new writers. I'm happiest when I can get people talking about the things their friends and family are sick of hearing them go on about.
My classes at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism enabled me to explore new ways of telling stories in collaboration with my fellow students and the surrounding community.
For Dr. Victoria LaPoe's Advertising and Public Relations Writing course in Fall 2019, I gained practical experience in public relations by taking on the Native American Journalists Association as a practice client. Dr. LaPoe is a lifelong member and former vice president of NAJA, an organization that serves and empowers Native journalists through programs and actions designed to enrich journalism and promote Native cultures. Besides gaining experience in news release, direct mail, bio and policy memo writing, I am now better equipped to write about diverse and marginalized communities.
For Online Journalism Fundamentals with Dr. Hans Meyer in Fall 2018, I created a variety of projects that introduced me to the tools available for online-focused journalists. I worked in interactive media, 360 photo and video, podcasting and basic HTML and CSS.
